Key Challenge
To control sulphur trioxide (SO3)
emissions, a visible blue plume from power station
stacks that does not dissipate in the atmosphere.
The plume, which sometimes results from the use
of NOx control equipment in combination with high
sulphur fuels, is difficult to predict and there
has been no cost-effective solution. In addition,
high SO3 emissions can accelerate the corrosion
of downstream equipment which increases maintenance
costs for the owner.
Solution
Marsulex, in partnership with two
world-leading organizations, has developed a totally
system engineered technology solution to reduce
SO3 emissions that is specific to each power plant
operation. We use computer modeling and pilot plant
testing to accurately predict and optimize solutions
prior to commercial installation.
Results
- The solution, CleanStack™,
can be implemented at significantly lower cost
than alternatives which offer a similar level
of benefits.
- CleanStack™ will result
in an increased boiler thermal efficiency of
1% or more.
- The solution is available to customers
on a fee-for-service basis.
