Two industries where Marsulex has a significant presence are oil refining and power generation. These industries are:
- Increasingly receptive to outsourcing as a way to maximize investment returns.
- Capital intensive with sensitivity to reduced costs and improved operating margins.
- Impacted by stringent environmental regulations.
- Viable and have long-term growth prospects.
Oil refiners and power generators create emissions during the refining and power generation process, notably sulphur dioxide (SO2) and hydrogen sulphide (H2S). Control of these emissions is critical to our customers' operations, and Marsulex provides innovative tailored solutions that ensure environmental regulations are met reliably and cost effectively.
In addition to air quality compliance solutions, Marsulex also provides services for handling industrial by-products, including the regeneration of spent sulphuric acid and cutting and removal of petroleum coke for oil refiners, as well as the handling of hazardous inorganic waste streams for a broad range of industrial customers.
Marsulex produces and provides sulphur-enhanced chemicals to industrial customers and supplies alum, a water treatment chemical used by municipalities and other industrial companies for water and wastewater treatment. The primary market for these and other chemicals is western Canada.
Marsulex provides its services and products through three operating groups:
